This uses negative amplitudes to make the waves "go up and down" so to speak. It took a day for me to figure out that the efficient signed distance field implementation that I was using can't handle that. (I did try to find out why but gave up.)

Anyway, with a SDF function that does not use Newton-Raphson, this worked.

In one clip, a customer seemingly crashed the system by ordering 18,000 water cups, while in another a person got increasingly angry as the AI repeatedly asked him to add more drinks to his order.
OK, I laughed OL at that last bit. Maybe A.I. is actually useful for antagonism comedy.
In particular, Mr Matthews said, there are times when humans are better placed to take orders, especially when the restaurants get busy.
"We'll help coach teams on when to use voice AI and when it's better to monitor or step in," he said.
This is telling. It’s not helpful when things are busy, which is traditionally when workers have to show that they can work. It’s only OK when things aren’t busy, but this CTO is trying to keep A.I. in the mix, like he would for some dumb nepo baby.

The guy started a new game this week. It is playable, there is a goal, and there is a way to lose.

My game, which I haven't worked on in months, but I did work on for weeks, doesn't give you any clue about what you can or should do. You can sort of open a box. That's about it.

There's probably a lesson here.

Hey, I got Rogue code from 1981 running on my computer by commenting out four lines. There might be some places where it crashes, but I was able to at least go for floors with it operating normally. And I forgot how fun it is!

A lot is made of how portable web stuff is, and deservedly so, considering the wider world of software. I'm not sure web apps written now will build and run in the year 2070, though.

A group of at least three raccoons came by tonight. Search results are dominated by wildlife control companies’ SEO A.I. glurge, but I get the impression that they’re usually solitary. Maybe this was a family with nearly-grown kids.

A total of possibly six came by between 1:38 and 4:36 AM. Or it could have been the same three looping around.
