In just three years, this laptop battery swole the heck up. Maybe I should be buying more expensive batteries? The original Dell one lasted only four years, though.

I bought an iFixit toolkit, mostly because I needed a T5 torx bit, but all the weird little tools in it are actually helpful. This suction thing makes it way easier to lift a lid that’s stuck on but not screwed down. Opening up a computer with these things is a much nicer experience than messing around with butter knives and household tweezers.

70% of this MBTA board meeting is the board members congratulating each other. That makes for a nice work environment, but they could save the public a lot of time by doing that in a separate meeting. The chairman is quitting in this meeting, so maybe the other ones will be better.

I spent a bunch of time fighting non-EVs parking in the charging spots at the library, and I'm actually OK with that in terms of time spent well. It's a small game, limited in scope, that is possibly winnable, and is for the public good. Better than watching YouTube videos.

I asked the library front desk to make an announcement about one car, then saw that they moved and went to get my car to the spot. When I got back some F-150 was parked there.

The library made another announcement. 30 minutes later, that truck was still there, but the legit EV had moved, so I moved in to park. Another EV came by, and the driver asked if I was going to be long. Unfortunately, yes. Then, we talked about the truck. She took a picture to report it.

I think I've reported the charging spot blocking via SeeClickFix at least three times before and nothing's happened. So, today, I called the police non-emergency number to see if some ticketing could happen. (I'm guessing no; they might care just as much about this as when they receive a SeeClickFix report. The next step then could be emailing city councilors; some data collection; or a web site that posts pictures of these cars.)

This approach to uchimata (starts about 3:00) is way easier to pull off than the traditional way (pulling them against your upright body as in harai goshi). It's like three steps that put your opponent in progressively worse positions. By the time you do the actual throw, it's not much effort. The guy just tried it out on me; it did not seem like a ton of work for him.

He does actually get the high grip on his opponents a lot, so it'll be nice to have something to do with it. Right now, it's only good for defense for him.
