Interview with a recycler in Reykjavik, Iceland. He works four hours a day taking discarded bottles to recycling and says he makes a good living at it. I don’t know exactly what “good” means, but he pays for his “own” apartment —that he presumably lives in without roommates. That alone is huge. In many US cities, you can’t even do that working as a software engineer forty hours a week. He’s done it for eighteen years.Comments
He said he does it because he doesn’t want to work for somebody else. I relate so hard to this. Where is my recycling job?? -
Bandcamp Friday snuck up on me! I already talked about गौतम बुद्ध's new one.Comments
On not Bandcamp because I guess classical music business shies away from it, I pre-ordered Mozart y Mambo because it has the liveliest version of Horn Concerto No. 4. https://www.prestomusic.com/classical/products/9499481--mozart-y-mambo-la-bella-cubana I didn't really want to preorder, but eh, what can you do.
I also got Kveldssanger, the acoustic Ulver album I used to listen to, but then forgot about after leaving streaming music. https://ulverband.bandcamp.com/album/kveldssanger It's kind of ambient lo-fi classical.
Oh, speaking of which, if you don't have it already, Parvae Harmoniae is a bunch of great clean electric guitar covers of early music pieces by the likes of Machaut: https://nickhoffman.bandcamp.com/album/parvae-harmoniae
I didn't buy it on Bandcamp Friday, but The Dark Forest is a good cozy dungeon synth album: https://stoneshape.bandcamp.com/album/the-dark-forest -
Things about Buddhism learned from the liner notes of the new गौतम बुद्ध album released today:Comments
The soul takes rebirth for eight reasons:
You get forced to redeem your points if you’re piling too many up!
3. To enjoy the meritorious fruits: Sometimes a person performs excessive meritorious deeds and dies, then the soul is reborn to enjoy the fruits of those meritorious deeds.5. To take revenge: The soul takes rebirth to take revenge on someone. If a person is killed by deceit, fraud or by giving any other kind of torture, then that soul definitely takes rebirth.
But in order to avoid a two-soul infinite rebirth loop, the soul is NOT reborn if it was killed for revenge, I’m guessing!6. To retaliate.
This is probably an automated translation issue, but maybe retaliation is broader than revenge? Like, someone ate your leftovers, and now you must eat their leftovers! -
I continue to faithfully do the back and ab PT stuff in hopes of not having to do another iteration of going to the doctor and getting shrugs.Comments

I came across Warface in my music library, who I haven't listened to in a long time. Still solid-sounding!Comments
I wondered what happened to Laura Christine. Women death metal guitarists are still uncommon today, but were much less common in the aughts.
Apparently, teaching guitar and still playing in bands. She not only joined Dark Angel, but also married Gene Hoglan.
Once again, metal-archives.com proves very handy. -

Well, no one showed to business night, and I probably would not have showed a few months ago either, so I understand.Comments
I did get my Society6 auto uploader to get through publishing a design on its own. Though the Society 6 designs thing probably won't work out, it is good to know how to a post to a platform that doesn't provide an API for future stuff.
I also looked at how many searches are happening for various other ideas I had with Google Keyword Planner. I think I may have shot all of them down. Most of them do not have more than 1K searches per month. -

I wonder if there's foot fetishists that refer to themselves as "podophiles" and get angry when people mishear them as "pedophiles".Comments
