My brother-in-law’s house that has high ceilings and a lot of empty space and is dark. Our house has low ceilings, could use more space, and has good lighting.Comments
Upon returning, I think our place has a better vibe, but his could easily be changed to have the best of both worlds. He’s just not really into noticing his surroundings, though, which probably saves him a lot of trouble! -
So, I just went on my second flight at the very back of the plane. Delta has First Class, etc., Main 1, Main 2, and Main 3 categories of tickets. After they called all of those, they called Basic, which was just us.Comments
So Basic = the very back of the plane? Maybe only on smaller planes?
That second Basic flight wasn’t as bad, but I think next time we have to visit family that requires connecting flights, I may propose that we meet in a third location that can be reached via direct flights.
Though I bet looking at hotel and Airbnb prices will make me angry! -

Flew from the very back of the plane for the first time. It’s bad — maybe $40-50 per ticket worse. It’s so loud you can’t hear music through earbuds even with your phone turned up to the max.Comments
Though if you think about the middle of the plane situation in which you can hear music but only with your volume all the way up, that’s also really bad. Think about how painful it is to have your volume all the way up in normal situations. But it doesn’t seem like a big deal on a plane because you’ve been accustomed to really high air pressure hitting your ears.
I imagine the hearing loss rate among flight attendants is terrible. -

Right now, where I’m at, walking outside between the hours of 11 AM and 7 PM during the summer is death. Seriously feels like you’ve been cursed.Comments
Though it would be interesting if, as things get hotter, it encouraged the development of nocturnal or underground cultures. -
Publix makes really good fried chicken for a grocery store. It’s at least at “moderate fast food level” like Brown’s Chicken. Well above KFC and below Popeyes and Bonjangles. Again, impressive for a grocery store.Comments

In 1976, amid the uproar in Boston over court-ordered school desegregation, the young Black lawyer inadvertently crossed paths with a group of white teenage protesters near City Hall.
Just look at that picture.
“I was on my way to an affirmative action meeting with city officials to try to open more jobs for people of color and minority contractors in the city of Boston,” Landsmark says. “I was attacked by a group of anti-busing demonstrators. And that moment was captured in a famous photograph where a young person was trying to kill me with the American flag.”
This was in 1976. Can you imagine here in the year 2033 what the police would do to Black protestors if they tried to gore a White lawyer with a flagpole? -

The main idea is that more freedom (such as the ability to play in a particular style) means more choices that don’t affect whether you win or lose. Whereas “more strategic depth” often means “make every decision count toward winning or losing,” which means there is always a right or wrong to play, and choosing your favorite character class may be a wrong choice.
It occurs to me that a helpful lens to view these decisions is: Is the game more about winning or is it about seeing what happens?
Rogue, I’d say is more about surviving until the end, even though it is fun to see what happens.
Noita, for me, is not about winning, but about watching weird collisions of forces.
So if your game is about winning, then make sure choices influence that, otherwise don’t? -
