I feel like I should post stuff other than pictures of stuff I see outside and songs that I like, but I'm less motivated to write about stuff in my life that has already happened of late.
However, I did already write a large D&D recap email, so I might as well post that here, so you know how that went.
Suffice to say, they did something unexpected (but, of course, legit), and it was not one of the ways I thought they'd get through this encounter.
Also, the cardboard model I built worked out pretty well! Some parts were uneven and lots of figures fell off the top floors to the bottom, but at least that was funny.
The email:
Previously
Last game, the PCs had shoved a golem and threw several darts at Glogulo. Glogulo had whipped some mists and pseudopods at them. The Second-Worst Party failed at various attempt to swipe the rod floating within Glogulo.
And now we return to the Battle of Glogulo
(I believe I have the events right here; but I may have gotten the order wrong. Please correct me if you notice a mistake here!)

Oika discovered mechanisms at the top of the box. Whewdo smashed open the case and pushed the switch in the other direction. Whewdo and Oika tried and failed to turn the wheel.

Other stuff that happened somewhere between this and Glogulo's command gas:
- Raisins were thrown
- More shoving attempts
- Sinbet fell down while climbing
- A Second-Worst Party member got beat up by a golem while trying to stop Sinbet from bleeding
Then, Glogulo hit Oika and Cedric with a gas. Their minds were drowned in shapes, most of which compelled them to jump into Glogulo. However, they could feel friendly ones among them. Oika was able to find and mentally grasp those; Cedric did not.
"Jump into the vat!" they said. While immersed in Glogulo, Cedric hacked at it with the Flame Buddy Sword Assistant. Kardosh then pulled him out with Cedric's best friend, the frayed rope.
The magic-cylinder-enclosed dwarf (from the Second-Worst Party) then also tried to move the wheel. He, also, was not strong enough. A golem came by. He was strong enough. The wheel turned.
Then, the portal several flashed several images into everyone's minds, then it read their "choices" in the next instant.
The PC gravitated the most toward these two images:

The latter image won the tiebreaker. The portal opened up to a place filled with fire, screams, and beings with many horns, claws, wings, and eyes.
Thistime, instead of dropping things out of itself, the portal in the ceiling sucked things *upward*. Most of the PCs were heavy enough to resist the vacuum, but the be-cylindered dwarf flew upward into the flames.
Oika flew up, as well. She tried to grab onto something but did not react soon enough. Fortunately, either Cedric or Kardosh was able to grab her and keep her out of the portal.
When Glogulo's command gas struck again, both Whewdo and Kardosh could not find enough friendly shapes to resist the compulsion to dive into the slime.
As he fell, Whewdo took out his destabilized Horn of Blasting. He waited until he was enveloped in the great slime intelligence, and then blew the horn.
DOOT DOOT
The horn was unable to contain and direct the forces within it. The explosion did massive damage in the area, ripping apart Glogulo but also Whewdo Danger and Kardosh.
Glogulo was splattered and inert. The golems stopped. The Second-Worst Party were all either dead or in hell, except for Jeumes, who was in shock.
Cedric walked down into the area in which the vat was and picked up the Rod of Automatons. Egg swept several things out of the chest. They and Oika overturned a small tub, to find Decayocol, a new slime intelligence, which was they destroyed before it was really able to get into its pitch.
Cedric commanded the golems to do push ups and break its arms trying to open a sealed door. Then, he had one rip a metal plate out from the apparatus containing the colored glass orbs. Egg explored the hallway outside the upper door for a bit, then came back when she realized she could not see in the dark.
R.I.P.
Now let us take a moment to remember two members of the Worst Party community: Whewdo Danger, half-elf ranger, and Kardosh, club enthusiast.
Mary kindly engraved these monuments for the exploded.Whewdo Danger
Whewdo Danger was a ranger who managed to make friends with unlikely members of nature, such as subterranean bats and bees. While Mr. Danger was committed to his rangerly duties, such as wielding his two swords, Magic Joe and Regular Joe, he had a great love for the arts and celebration. He took first prize in a dungeon dance-off with golems whose sole directive was to dance to win. Mr. Danger also famously defeated a respected leader among the Good Strong Friends of the Mountain in a test of drinking. He also played his horn at every opportunity.
Kardosh
Kardosh showed promise as amateur wrestler in his hometown of Beggar's Hole, but soon discovered his true love: clubs. By adulthood, he had gathered three fine clubs and set out to practice their use in the field with the ambition of becoming a master of the club, a much-overlooked weapon in today's swords-and-slimes world. In addition to the art of clubbery, Mr. Kardosh had a certain primitive charisma and often won over foes with charming exhortations to arm wrestle or to help shove things. He excelled at throwing smaller party members across gaps and hauling weaker party members upward using ropes.
A few silent line breaks for the passing of these heroes.
XP
And now life moves on! The PCs exploded Glogulo! They saw another plane! They got the rod! They found treasures. All this netted them 9,875 XP.
