Robin Sloan has a brilliant, feverish what-if, packaged as a very sincere-sounding media empire pitch. I love the concept of a really roundabout way to fix our country.

And it's a side point, but I think there's some truth to the relationship between popular books and movies:

We've both read plenty of novels where you can see the screenplay moving just under the skin. Our innovation will be our shamelessness, which will be total. Everyone will know exactly what's up, and because they know, buying this book will become a vote: YES, make this movie! And while you're at it: make this reality, too.

I went well over my internet curfew! But at least, my Autocomplete Jokes bot has RSS! Seriously, it is what every long-reads-soaked RSS reader needs.

Certain programs have frequently suggested that I'll enjoy the band Vektor because a lot of other people that like a lot of music that I like like that band. I've been like, eh.

Today, however, I gave them a chance and was blown away by Liquid Crystal Disease. It's very dense like their other stuff, but they've been able to reach me on this one with their fluid tapping and Slayer-style harmony in fourths.

My current behavioral goal is to stop checking things. I'm largely off Twitter, I cut back on my highish volume Mastodon account, but I still check my low volume one a lot, even though I know it's unlikely that new things will come up.

I'm going to let myself check RSS and email as often as what I want because I think my brain is trained to not expect things to come up often, and is chiller about that. Everything else: I'm shooting for a total of 20 times today.

Violet is the color of a particular wavelength of light that happens to activate two different kinds of cones in the eye. Purple is a mixture of red and blue light, which happens to activate the same two kinds of cones.

Woo! Forgot that I had a free 5 GB of storage on each of my Digital Ocean instances. I just needed to snapshot and resize to get them, but I never bothered. Well, now thanks to keeping all my bots' and blogs' media in one place, I do desperately need those 10 GB.

Stupid IKEA shipped me the wrong order, and now it's like I have another little part-time job.
