So, a while back, I mentioned in a discussion that a Chapo Trap House host had mocked women on Twitter that were talking about having been raped, but at the time, I could produce the tweets. Deleted and banned accounts made it hard to find this thing I remember seeing back when I was on Twitter. This kind of memory hole thing drives me nuts, and I felt like I looked like I was making it up.
I was reminded of this issue today and realized I forgot about archive.org. For posterity and to prove I'm not insane, here it is. (Content warning: These tweets are about rape, so skip reading if you don't want to see that today.)
Context about one of the rapes being discussed that he was mocking.Screenshot someone grabbed of part of the thread (@byyourlogic is the Chapo guy)I think this was the actual thread. And one of the women discussing her rape being mocked and how she was not actually apologized to as @byyourlogic claimed. So, there it is. Hooray for archive.org and for me having a reliable memory! While I find it detestable when people support sociopaths that mock people who have suffered horrible traumas, I know that there is an appetite for this kind of cruel "strong avatar." It's partly why Trump has been president.
However, I think we can all agree that that Chapo Trap House host that actually mocked rape victims as they were talking about being rape.
Actually, now that I think about it, the last several years has proven that no one has to believe any fact, no matter what the circumstances.
So, I revise that to: I can agree that I actually saw that and did not misremember.
