The first is that General Nakasone’s aggressive new posture — which Cyber Command describes with terms like “persistent engagement” and “defend forward” — may be working. The phrases refer to going deep inside the computer networks of adversaries, whether that means the Internet Research Agency, the Russia-based group that mounted the 2016 influence campaigns; the G.R.U., Russia’s military intelligence agency; or Iran’s increasingly active cybercorps.
The article is light on specifics, but it seems that something was actually done about electronic election interference. I’m glad to be wrong about this.
35(?)-minute run, 12 pull-ups. Most productive thing I’ve done today. Having a the struggles with getting myself to work that are of the sort that Allie Brosh depicts.
Really into this Xoth album. They’ve got all the blast beats and double bass going on but also really tuneful solos, but they’re not melodic in a really square “harmonic minor only!” way that a lot of European melodic death metal is.
One of the worst things about mathematical notation is the blatant use of symbols that look extremely similar, like t and τ.
Bandcamp works reasonably well as a streaming music service.
I’m actually getting some writing done at the playground. This has been the dream for years; it has never worked out in practice before.
At Hond Pond today, James told us not only does he play Slay the Spire, he’s gotten to Ascension level 11. For context, Katt and I have been playing for a year, and the highest we’ve gotten is 4. We’ve never beater the heart at the end.
Inspired by James’s feats, I gave it a go, and actually did beat the heart! However, not even that gets you to Ascension level 5! Oh, well, I’ll take it.
I just enjoy making these pizza gifs.
This is not a thing anymore.
He doesn’t really get the jokes, but he’s enjoying these anyway.
Da Sun, Part III
Davis is honkin’ it up.
I was talking with a skeptical friend how this election call is kind of just like hitting the midpoint tape in Super Mario World level, which is still worth celebrating, even if it’s just a “whew!” sound instead of the full-fledged end-of-level music.
Some kids in a car behind us honked and said, “Fuck Donald Trump!” (Possibly because I have an Obama bumper sticker?) I waved and gave them a 👍.
The guy asked what they said, and I said that they were happy the election ended well. He then asked if that was *exactly* what they said.
The guy spotted a spider dropping from our ceiling on a line. I was able to use that line to release it into the wild.
See, this is the right way to spend your morning. Get up, draw a cool picture, have breakfast.
While that was happening, I spent most of my morning trying (unsuccessfully) to move a VPS from one Digital Ocean account to another, all because I want to follow the straight and narrow on business practices.
