I'm trying to work with GRPC right now, and it has this incredibly SOAP-like feel, with generated code garbage and everything.

Apologies if you've heard this from me before, but I don't have hope for the 2020 election because basically nothing has done to fix the problems of 2016. Voting machines are unreliable in several states and voter suppression and disenfranchisement of non-Whites is going to be as strong as it ever was. Twitter still allows Trump to pump hatred into White America at will. Citizens United lets corporations and shell corporations pump unlimited money into campaigns. And of course, the electoral college system still misrepresents America.

Trump could win legitimately this time, but we'll never know. And it appears there could be even more chaos this time from large malicious entities.

The Russians had the capacity to cause far greater damage than they did—at the very least to render Election Day a chaotic mess—but didn’t act on it, because they deemed such an operation either unnecessary or not worth the cost. The U.S. intelligence community has admitted that it’s not entirely sure why Russia sat on its hands. One theory holds that Barack Obama forced Russian restraint when he pulled Vladimir Putin aside at the end of the G20 Summit in Hangzhou, China, on September 5, 2016. With only interpreters present, Obama delivered a carefully worded admonition not to mess with the integrity of the election. By design, he didn’t elaborate any specific consequence for ignoring his warning.

I listener back to my latest podcast episode, and my perception of which segments were stronger than others was very different from when I was assembling the episode. It would definitely benefit from being assembled a day earlier so I can do another pass.

Of course, that’s probably not going to happen.

I need to stop getting further disappointed. Not because the disappointment is not justified, but it's interfering with the things I need to do.

New Small Findings episode! This one is largely informed by me physically stumbling across buildings I've never noticed before.

The episode is a little light, but I think it's more important to focus on regularizing the production rhythm than to hold back an episode to make it more perfect. Let me know what you think, even if you don't like it!

Elephant and Piggy through the years

Infant era: Big hit, compelling pictures.

Toddler era: Funny stories, still going strong.

Preschool era: Could not compete with graphic novels, licensed franchises, books with basic sci-fi and adventure tropes. They still have an occasional appeal.

Kindergarten era: They’re back! Readable without adult help. He’s read eight of them in the past day.

Mo Willems designed these perfectly on several levels, sort of creating multi-dimensional objects, in a sense.

35 minutes of running, 12 pull-ups.

The day got away from me today, so the ten pull-ups I got in before having to starting an interview this morning plus running around the apartment for 12 minutes with guy (basically LARP Pac-Man) is the workout today.

DJ Jazzy Jeff, unsurprisingly, puts together a good DJ set. And apparently understands basic science and the cororavirus than the president.
