I finished reading Arrow of God last night. All of the books in that trilogy are tragedies. Arrow of God really didn’t seem like it would be, though, and on the whole, it was mostly about characters living vibrant lives as they got through problems.
The second book, No Longer at Ease, just felt like everything was a mess the whole time. Both the title and the opening chapter make it clear that things are going to be uncomfortable throughout.
Things Fall Apart is also titled so that you know shit will go down, but there are triumphs and good times in, and you think just maybe they’ll be OK.
Regardless of these tragedy ratings, they’re all really good windows into other ways of living. Maybe there should be a Netflix series.
