It actually is terrible to be in solitary confinement, but I keep imagining myself learning parkour if I ever end up there.Comments

It’s completely unnecessary, but I did try the Chipotle “hacks” a few years ago where you ask for half of one kind of meat and half of another kind, and you end up getting 1.5 times the burrito.Comments
Also the thing where you get a bowl but ask for a tortilla to go with it also works if you want Chipotle for two meals.
There was one time I did it, and the guy in line was like “Chipotle Reddit? Nice work bro!”
I tried to politely get away, then had to say hey I gotta go eat somewhere else’s and he was all “hey, just making a conversation bro” -
Huh, Zaheer from Korra was voice acted by Henry Rollins.Comments
We’re on Season 4 of Korra now. It’s watchable, but every season has the same diabolical bad guy archetype, and he’s always defeated by Korra tapping into more power than you they said she had. I think Dragonball-Z works like that?
The original Avatar had way more weirdness like the Face Stealer and haiku contests, and it had the benefit of the characters not being near the height of his powers, so they had to actually do things other than blast guys with powers.
I will say it is way better than when we had to watch Paw Patrol, a few years back. - Comments

Update to last post: `local` is actually stored on the DOM. Oh, well.Comments
-
Hey, there's a `local` function in d3-selection now, so you can add extra values to nodes without having to touch the DOM or modify the source data.Comments

Spotify is laying off 600 people. If each of those people cost $200K/year, that's $120 million. They pay Joe Rogan $200 million for 3.5 years, $57M/year.Comments

While I'm on hold with the IRS (it's really nice that they open at 7!), here is an account of a dream I had:Comments
- I had to invite three coworkers (from ten years ago) over to my house to work on something.
- At some point, there was a break from lunch, at which point I found one of them searching for something in the basement. She said that she may have dropped Katt's ring.
- I searched, and I was in the basement in the old place, except it was huge. There were random encounters with the occupants of that building, and also tech bros having a concert.
- At the same time, my high school friends were going to play the Everything, Everywhere at Once video game adaptation together over video call. However, we just found out that it had been made by George Santos, so instead, we were trying to get our money back.
I find it interesting that that group of coworkers were in the dream because they weren't particularly close, nor have I thought about them in a while. I guess that relationship was intense at times, though.
As for George Santos, I don't follow the news constantly, so the first I heard about him in depth was on The Daily, and I didn't feel that strongly about him. I just thought, huh, another Republican con man.
Dream topics may be selected more or less at random. -

I spent a long time trying to learn how to blend clips in Bitwig and stumbled on the two clips playing just fine when placed next to each other in the timeline, without blending. (You can specify fade out/in times for each clip.)Comments
I think the lesson is that it wants you to put clips in separate tracks if you want to blend them and use the Arrange view instead of the Edit view. I don’t like that, but it already supports a jillion workflows, so I understand why they had to disallow some. -

Today's weird DOM discovery: If you parse an SVG document into a tree, then append one if the child nodes to the browser's current DOM, then the node disappears from the source tree.Comments

Today, at breakfast, the guy mentioned cannibalism. (We clarified that it’s only cannabalism when something eats something of the same species.) I asked where he heard about it.Comments
He didn’t know. I guess it’s just one of those things that’s in the air! -
