Wow. I was about to book a flight on avia.kissandfly.com, and after I entered my credit card number, they jacked the price for each ticket up by $100. Suffice to say, I will never buy from a site that does things like that.
I’m putting a sad amount of effort into cleanly giving away my 11-year-old iMac. Some kids are probably just going to take it somewhere to smash it. (Be careful about the glass shards, kids!)
This week's song is called Advice and Healing. I used Animal Crossing samples and samples from a Jorge Luis Borges lecture to create custom "drum kits" (like those old Flash soundboards). At one point, I had a solo in there that I played on the guy's toy clarinet, but it was too terrible, even to be funny.
We grabbed a free bookcase from a few houses away, and it happened to match the existing bookcase (on the wall above it) because they both have the “homemade shelf” aesthetic. We actually needed this because we have books all over the place. The guy likes to read, and kids chapter books are short, so he goes through them fast. Half of our couch is always covered in books.
Documenting that I attempted this: I cut sheets of cardboard into contours. I planned to paint each layer, then glue them together to make a rocky landscape. I got through cutting maybe a third of the layers? Holy shit does it take a long time to cut cardboard with a box cutter.
Chucking it in the recycling; now I know why people have automated paper cutting machines.
I overheard someone walking by saying “And here’s where Einstein comes in” and I thought he was going to go on about someone he thinks is stupid. But he continued, “You have to account for special relativity because of our speed on the earth…”
Cooking the garlic first, then taking it out, and putting it back later has really helped with not turning the garlic flavorless in these one-pan dishes.
Today would be a nice day to live in the basement. I took some laundry down there, and it was great. The summer is probably a great time to be a dwarf.
We went to three different parks before finding one with the water features on. If only the city had some kind of web site that answered questions that people actually have.
These are definitely mild side effects, but my energy is sapped in a subtle way. There’s a pre-production task I need to do which basically consists of downloading 40 files from Slack onto the iPad, but I found it too tiring and ended up lying down after 10.
