This episode of Talking Politics
is about the Union—which is the Union of Great Britain, meaning just England and Scotland, not the entire UK. Scotland separating from the Union and the UK is a real possibility now, even if it isn’t likely.
Something I never thought about is who comprises the SNP. It’s the Scottish National Party, so of course it has the kind of nationalists you see in the United States (but probably not that crazy). However, it also has a lot of social democrats who “just want Scotland to be a normal country”. One of their political leaders doesn’t like that “national” is in the party’s name. These two factions have a lot of conflicts.
I wonder if the separatist party in Quebec has a mix like that, too.
