This episode of Heavy Hole with Seppo Taatila might be worth listening to, even if you don't like metal. Maybe.
It's an interview with a guy from a rural area of Finland. He joined the death metal band Demigod in the late '80s. They were pioneering, but of course, were obscure in the big scheme of things.
He speaks about what life is like there, and what his life is like now. They asked him if he ever talks to another member of the band, and his reply was that he does, but they never talk about death metal. They talk because he is a youth basketball coach at the local athletic center and the other band member is a track coach there.
