I guess F# is a Microsoft thing that runs on .NET. I’ve heard of it, but I didn’t make the Microsoft connection. I remember when .NET was a joke used mostly by those who had no choice. Their comeback continues and is just a bit concerning.Comments

I learned two basic things from this Talking Politics episode about technopopulism (which sounds sort of like applying metrics-driven corporate methods to politics):Comments
- The Five-Star Party on Italy originally set out to bring more direct democracy to Italy via technology. (Online referendums, etc.) I always assumed they were just nationalist populists.
- Macron is a populist! He seemed very establishment because he ran again Le Pen, a Nazi, but I guess he was also playing the populist game. And he is also, in fact, establishment, which makes it more interesting. -

I finally gathered all the tax stuff and got an aggregate sense of it, so I could send it to the accountant. I'm not even actually doing the taxes, but it still took all day!Comments
It felt extremely slow because I'm hyper-aware of how long everything takes lately. I guess I can say that at least it didn't take two days. -
I’ve got some wrist pain today, but unfortunately, I did at least three things differently yesterday. I did a two-hour typing session without formal breaks, I put the braces back on, and I did a lot of tablet writing. So, I don’t know which of these are the relevant factors. Also, apparently, he has been creeping it up at MIT forever, which is not surprising. This is a messed-up incident, but I like how the harrassed person handled it:I don’t know if he and I were the last two left, but at a table with only the two of us, Richard Stallman told me of his misery and that he’d kill himself if I didn’t go out with him.
I felt bad for him and also uncomfortable and manipulated. I did not like being put in that position — suddenly responsible for an “important” man. What had I done to get into this situation? I decided I could not be responsible for his living or dying, and would have to accept him killing himself. -

Sun Ra is not a person, it’s a business name…, it’s a certificate which was gotten in New York City; they didn’t notice that I didn’t have down there what my business was. They stamped it, notarized it, and they filed it. Therefore, it’s a business name, and my business is changing the planet. If Jesus had done that, gone and gotten himself a business certificate, he’d have had the right and he wouldn’t have had to go up there on the cross. But then, he didn’t have no legality, and he didn’t have any authority behind him whatsoever. …So Sun Ra is a business name. …And business is not family, nothing. They just happen. A business just happens, it’s not born. …And corporations are like that, they just happen. And they’re eternal, too.
They will expire if no one files with the state, but they are weirdly potentially immortal. -
