Instead of taking the camp's difficulties as a test of their inner strength, they did not take their life seriously and despised it as something of no consequence. They preferred to close their eyes and to live in the past. Life for such people became meaningless.I greatly respect this man’s work. It’s an account of his time in a concentration camp.
Naturally only a few people were capable of reaching
great spiritual heights. But a few were given the chance to attain human greatness even through their apparent worldly failure and death, an accomplishment which in ordinary circumstances they would never have achieved.
After the first year of W&B, some of the old members were still angry about the fall out of W&B, and had started DDOS attacks on the website. In fact, attacking W&B seemed like their pastime. The angry group started ugly rumors, hacked my accounts, hacked some of the members accounts, and made lots of excuses for acting out. My email was spoofed repeatedly, and the petty cash bank account number was posted online. The police thought it was likely that my social security number had ended up online.I’m kind of not surprised. This part I was surprised by, but maybe I shouldn’t have been:
So I started interviewing professional tradesmen. But when I described the typical demographic of the members and most likely the future students, the reaction was always negative. The tradesmen were universally telling me that they didn't want to work with students or people from the "Ivy League" or academia. The fabricators had a strong resentment toward "the elites". As one candidate told me "Yeah, I know those people. I fix their mistakes all day long." This didn't happen with just one candidate, it happened with 8 of them.
For gas consumption from September 01, 2022 to October 31, 2022, the Gas Supply Charge has increased from last month's charge of $0.6788 per therm to $1.0375 per therm. That's kind of a lot.
This summer, the conservative majority on the Wisconsin Supreme Court banned most drop boxes for ballots, which had provided another quick and convenient method of voting during the pandemic, rather than relying on the mail. Until a federal judge intervened, the ruling also meant that people with disabilities could not have help delivering their ballots to their municipal clerks.
More recently, in Waukesha County, a judge sided with the Republican Party in a ruling that barred local clerks from fixing even minor errors or omissions — such as a missing ZIP code — on absentee ballot envelopes. The clerks could contact the voter or return the ballot to be corrected. In a state already known for limiting voter access, this was another example of a push toward more controls.
