You could argue that this post is about career advancement, so only career advancement considerations are mentioned, but it does sound like the way to decide what to do at Google is to pick between what would impress your manager and what would impress your VP. It doesn't mention what would be best for an end user, nor any ethical considerations.
Google makes terrible decisions regarding both big things like spreading disinformation and wrecking democracies and small things like killing off products shortly after they're launched. I could see them making sense if the decision is "will this impress my manager and/or my VP?"
