OK, I am hereby side-effected by this booster shot. Nothing for four hours, then BLAOW!
I feel wiped, warm, and arm-pulsing happened.

I still don't have responses to kid behavior problems calibrated. I'm either too serious, or I don't get through.

This is an interesting drug executive profile, but I wanted to comment on this:

Hong Kong and Macau’s three biggest triads—14K, Wo Shing Wo and Sun Yee On—are enormous, powerful, violent criminal organizations; 14K alone has some 20,000 members.

I wonder if it had 14,000 members at some point in the past.

- Dropped off, picked up, dropped off.
- Updated the pd vocoder to only log one block's worth of stuff (signal or FFT results) as well as the raw carrier signal so I can see if the same block is being logged on both sides. I'm not sure that they are.
- Started on a new pd external that I hope will count blocks, then log a specific block.
- Doctor's office communication.
- Laundry.
- Emailed the blinds company about the broken part in one of our blinds that we finally tried to fix yesterday.
- Tried to get the guy signed up for swimming lessons, but they were full 30 mins. after they opened up. I guess everyone's bot sniping everything! I have no idea what we're going to do this winter.
- Read some more Piketty.
- Wrote a few riffs.
- AM synthesis stuff.
- Advised the guy on some complex diagramming he had introduced into his homework. Not having arrows cross each other is frustrating! I showed him graphviz, the best in the world at that, but still not great.
- Went to the music tech study group. We talked over some math again. I think review helps!

Welp, the guy asked for a phone. I won’t be surprised if this repeats for several years.

I dropped my phone on the sidewalk again. I don’t see any additional cracks, but my phone hp may be low at this point.

35-40 min. run, 12 pull-ups.

I started out looking up how a theremin works and somehow spending 45 minutes reading about Charles Bronson. Dude had a hard childhood.

The guy is at peak not wanting to try things he’s not already good at. This could be a long several months.

The guy was saying that his gums sometimes hurt, and I was like, aw no dental stuff!

It turned out he meant the inside of his lip, and he has a canker sore.

It appears not.

- Did some work for Client B.
- Communicated with Client A.
- Communicated with the condo association.
- Communicated with the doctor's office and teacher.
- Fixed a broken sliding drawer. Took three trips to the basement because I kept not getting the right screw size.
- Did some sanitize cycle laundry. Verified that you can wash mop heads, though they shrink. Stiil, better than throwing them away.
- Picked up, dropped off, picked up.
- Cleaned a window.
- Called Tufts Health Plan about why our premium went up. Was told that's something you have to talk to Health Connector about. After quite a bit of poking, the CSR told me that Tufts ended our plan, and Health Connector automatically picked the "closest" available one.
- Made dinner.
- Tried to come up with something to do with the guy this weekend now that he no longer like climbing. There's no swimming lessons we can get into. So, I guess we'll go to the library, which is at least going out.
- Updated the C++ vocoder to log only at a specific block, like the pd one is. After doing that, I saw that the graphs for the C++ ones are tiny, x-axis-wise. I realized that the C++ one does not retain previous blocks, whereas the pd one does, so the logs are again not comparable. I'm going to have to make the C++ version store all of the blocks up to the specific blocks and hope it's not too memory intensive or somehow slice off only the most recent block's worth of signal in the pd version. Right now, I think it actually doesn't make sense to log the accumulated blocks, as it doesn't have a real meaning for things like FFT results.

I ripped this ye olde Hate Eternal CD the other day, not really remembering much about it.

It's really good!

Besides being fast, brutal, etc., it has really solid tonal identity. The riffs all feel like they come from the same dimension, despite being not really drawing from known keys, as death metal riffs tend to do. That's not easy for everyone.

A big part of this is the bass playing (and mixing). I thought maybe Alex Webster from Cannibal Corpse was playing bass here, but it's Jared Anderson, who is unknown to me.

It turns out he's dead. (I'm impressed with Metallum linking a picture of his grave.) This is the problem with looking up '90s musicians.

Giving myself maturity points for just asking the condo treasurer to actually keep up with stuff instead of just saying "oh, actually, here's this thing that's not documented anywhere" and depositing dues three months late. I had this inclination to be polite about it, then resent it, which, fuck that.

37-minute run, 13 pull-ups.

- Dropped off, picked up, dropped off, picked up.
- Got some Christmas presents.
- Made an animated emoji.
- Dealt with some condo stuff.
- Hooked up the rest of the signal logging in the pd vocoder. Now unsure if I can trust these numbers, but at least they're not all zeroes.
- Went to the music tech working session. I redid my graphs with less misleading values (now the phases are not multiples of each other) and now I think I understand how amplitude modulation splits peak frequencies into partials that are not the original carrier frequency.
- Did some Client B work.
- Prodded Client A.
- Bleach mopped the basement because I was paranoid about laundry touching the floor after the drain backup earlier.
- Made dinner. Found out you can mess yourself up by incorrectly cooking kidney beans. Also, chili from dry beans is slightly better than from canned, but not enough to be worth the effort.
- Did some doctor/teacher communicating.
- Read about playing bridge.

12 pull-ups. Also ran from and to school. My back has been stiff all week, so I’ve been keeping workouts light. (I’ve been doing that out of laziness as well.) Who knows if it matters.
