I ripped this
ye olde Hate Eternal CD the other day, not really remembering much about it.
It's really good!
Besides being fast, brutal, etc., it has really solid tonal identity. The riffs all feel like they come from the same dimension, despite being not really drawing from known keys, as death metal riffs tend to do. That's not easy for everyone.
A big part of this is the bass playing (and mixing). I thought maybe Alex Webster from Cannibal Corpse was playing bass here, but it's
Jared Anderson, who is unknown to me.
It turns out he's
dead. (I'm impressed with Metallum linking a picture of his grave.) This is the problem with looking up '90s musicians.
