The guy just got the bug-catching net in Link to the Past, and he's now trying to catch the animals that gather around the ghostly Flute Boy.Comments

The guy is allergic to tree nuts, but not peanuts, but all peanuts are always processed along with tree nuts, so we had to find a special pure peanut place online to order peanuts from so I can put them in stir fry.Comments
The allergy stuff has gotten less intense for us over the years, but this kind of logistical puzzle is an example of why allergies are tiring. -
Oh, shit. Just a guy walking across the floor makes it shake. This is a shaky library!Comments
-
Oh, the thumping was coincidental. Kids were stomping upstairs at the same time a bus drove by the library.Comments

I'm at the west branch of the Somerville Library, and there was some thumping that made the building vibrate. Buildings shake more often than I thought!Comments

Analog computing is getting some hypeComments
Bickley explained that when, say, brute-force natural-language AI systems distill millions of words from the internet, the process is insanely power hungry. The human brain runs on a small amount of electricity, he said, about 20 watts. (That’s the same as a light bulb.) “Yet if we try to do the same thing with digital computers, it takes megawatts.” For that kind of application, digital is “not going to work. It’s not a smart way to do it.”
It's a little sad that ML is driving this, but it does feel like digital progress is a bit stuck. -

I just had a terrible experience with the Verizon web site that came from them wanting to restrict the user unnaturally. But there's so many of these kinds of stories that I think that just thinking about telling it is just tiring.Comments

I did the ab PT exercises. They’re very mental! Three of them require that you keep your abs engaged the whole time. I kept thinking, I think they’re engaged. But are they really?! Also, you are supposed to breathe while clenching those guys.Comments

I felt I should probably do some maintenance once in a while, so I finally fixed the podcast feed for this site. (It's a "podcast" that collects all of the audio posted here, for people who like to get mystery audio in their podcast apps.)Comments

Listened to a piece I semi-improvised on Saturday for the Junto prompt. It's just unlistenable, even for me, and I think no one learn anything from me submitting it, so I'm going to chalk it up as a total loss.Comments

I found out Ryuichi Sakomoto died recently. That guy just made whatever he wanted to for decades. He was part of YMO, and he made highly respected art music and ambient music.Comments
He even made not very highly respected easy adult contemporary in the '90s, which is when I first heard him on the Box. Decades later, when I heard him in the office I worked in at the time, I looked him up to make sure he was the same guy. -

Got an old bill paid to a receiver that I guess wasn't all that eager to be paid! In the process, I accidentally called someone whose number I forgot I had.Comments
I also gathered all the docs I need for taxes. I'm not even filing them, and I found just this part to be hard!
And I organized and cleaned the fridge.
Longstanding TODOs be gone! Well, at least three of them. -
