Bandcamp United claims that Songtradr and Epic Games discriminated against workers on the basis of labor activity by not offering jobs to any of the eight members of the Collective Bargaining Committee, the workers who were democratically elected by their fellow union members to represent them in negotiations with management.

Firing all of the union leadership is something that seems like an obviously discriminatory move from a practical perspective, but I have no idea how it’ll play out at the NLRB.

New track: Instructions for Your Next Life!

Happy Halloween! This is a track made with the goregrind ideal of "making sick shit" but with the body of an ambient piece: No drums, no obvious pulse, no riffs, yes field recordings, yes aleatoric components. I'm working on something more gentle, but for today, enjoy some terror!

I had this idea for a while but didn't actually do it until this Junto prompt came up. I edited and processed an old JavaScript mistake and used another not quite successful piece as an audio sidechain control for the loudness of the transients in the howling bit.

Then, I arranged an old recording of a tub draining as the vocals and improvised some guitar (which is low in the mix).

I posted a previous version on SoundCloud, but this is the better mix.

Flooding is now complex enough that a lot of things I want to change take a while. This wouldn't happen if I had designed the system perfectly, but then I would have spent months up front not making any music. Also, I had no idea what I wanted it to do.

The current thing I wanted to try is these big pauses. ("Grand pauses" as they are called in orchestral scores.) Synthskel does have the concept of rests, so I tried putting those in, then was all like, duh, why are sounds still playing. Other voices had durations that reached into the rest and didn't care if this new thing was resting. So now I gotta find the thing that (hopefully) has all the active events so it can stop them. Next week, that is.

Hour run/walk, 12 pull-ups. Though according to my physical, I’m five points heavier, so each of those is worth extra points.

I was able to stick to the planned route this time, though the route I planned turns out to go off path, so I had to “urgent walk” a lot of it. I liked it, though, because I need variety. With nothing to really back it up, I think it might help with ankle strengthening by putting them in a lot of situations they wouldn’t normally encounter in street running and in fact would mess up you up if they popped up on street running.

I got done just in time to get in a minimum viable shower before driving to piano. Though maybe it wasn’t actually viable. My internal body temp didn’t drop enough, and I kept sweating after changing, which is fout.

Well, RIP to this little guy. I tried spraying this patch ‘n’ seal stuff on it to make it thicker and stronger, but the aerosol force blew pieces of it off and possibly dissolved the glue.

Wow. Hasan Minhaj’s response to the New Yorker article about him. I actually came away from the New Yorker article pissed about what he was doing — according to the New Yorker.

He recorded all of his interactions with them, though, and yeah, most of the article was a big distortion. Man, what if he hadn’t recorded all of that? Who knows how many times the New Yorker has done this.
