It's funny that they give red dragons in D&D these little extra abilities like "heat metal once per day" even though they can also just do hundreds of points of damage by just breathing.Comments

I thought I'd see if ChatGPT could help out with working out furniture details in a dungeon, so I prompted "What kind of furniture would go in a 10'x20' dungeon room inside of a D&D game?"Comments
When creating a 10'x20' dungeon room within a D&D game, you have the creative freedom to design the room's furnishings to match the dungeon's theme and purpose. Here are some furniture and decor ideas that can enhance the immersion of your D&D dungeon room:
"Here's all the things that I've heard go in a dungeon. Have them." To be fair, that's what all ML systems do: Search for the closest embeddings and give them back.
Stone Altar: Place a stone altar in the center of the room, complete with dark candles and cryptic symbols. This can serve as a focal point for rituals or encounters with cultists or dark forces.
Torches or Sconces: Line the walls with torch sconces to provide dim lighting and add to the eerie atmosphere. You can describe the flickering torchlight during gameplay.
Prison Cells: If the room serves as a prison or holding area, include iron bars and shackles, as well as straw pallets for prisoners.
Treasure Chests: Scatter treasure chests or crates throughout the room to entice players. Some may contain valuable loot, while others could be traps.
Mysterious Portals: Incorporate magical or mysterious portals in the room. These can be represented by swirling vortexes or enchanted doorways.
Ritual Circle: Draw a detailed ritual circle on the floor using a battle mat or tiles. Players may need to interact with it during certain encounters.
Cursed or Haunted Artifacts: Position cursed or haunted objects like paintings, statues, or mirrors in the room. These can be potential sources of trouble or clues in your campaign.
Gargoyle Statues: Add gargoyle statues in various corners of the room to give it a foreboding and Gothic feel.
Hidden Traps: Incorporate hidden traps in the room, such as pressure plates or tripwires, to challenge your players' ingenuity.
Sacrificial Altar: If the room has sinister origins, consider placing a bloodstained sacrificial altar, complete with wicked-looking knives and arcane symbols.
Cursed Tomes and Scrolls: Scatter cursed or forbidden tomes and scrolls on a lectern or table. Players may need to decipher them or protect them from falling into the wrong hands.
Bones and Skulls: Decorate the room with bones and skulls, either as part of the scenery or as part of a gruesome display.
Cobwebs and Dust: Use cotton or synthetic cobwebs and dust to give the room a neglected and ancient appearance.
Flickering Magical Crystals: Install magical crystals that emit a faint, flickering light, casting eerie shadows on the walls. These can be used as both lighting and plot devices.
Ominous Sounds: Play background sounds or music that suit the room's atmosphere, such as echoing footsteps, distant whispers, or haunting melodies.
Remember that the key to creating a memorable D&D dungeon room is to engage your players' senses and imagination. Describe the room's details vividly, and encourage your players to interact with the environment to uncover secrets, clues, and challenges as they progress through your campaign. -

I just prepared eight (“8”) ingredients. I’d normally cook them right away, but it’s Friday. I am kicking back and having a seltzer for a little while.Comments

If you lived in a 2D square that was the face of a 3D cube, you’d be used to moving in two dimensions, let’s say x and y. If you then moved to an adjacent face, you could then move in a new dimension, z. But while x would be unavailable, you could still move in a familiar dimension, y.Comments
So if you lived in a 3D, that was the face of a hypercube, you’d be accustomed to moving in x, y, and z dimensions. But after moving to an adjacent face, you’d lose x, keep y and z, and gain w.
So, crudely speaking, would you no longer be able to move left and right, but still be able to go up and down and back and forth, but also go -w and +w? Would the w movement just be no big deal; just something you never thought of before? -

I finished my Music for Sleep submission. It's due tomorrow.Comments
I did actually start it last week instead of at the last minute, but had writer's block. So, I ended up doing it tonight, at the last minute.
I came up with something interesting. It's really noisy, but I tried to make sure there was a pulse there, too.
Is it actually good, though? I usually need to put a piece away for a day, then listen to it to be able to tell. So, I have no idea.
Also, I have no idea if my file is actually going to upload to their Google Drive. It's stuck at 100%. -

Wily is still the cheaper cat by far because she requires no medication, though. -
If there’s no events, there’s no time because time measures events.Comments
You could say you think time is still happening when there’s no events, but then how would you measure the time? Time is measured by events. (Which is seems circular, but it’s measuring events in terms of other events, like massless particles hitting things.)
All I can say about this is: weird! Also, why wasn’t I taught this in high school? -

I have to admit, sometimes when I see something novel, I think of the doer of the novel thing as heroic. That clever guy stabbed his girlfriend 40 times, thought. -

India’s Modi gov’t replaces country’s name with Bharat in G20 dinner inviteComments
The nation of more than 1.4 billion people is officially known by two names, India and Bharat, but the former is most commonly used, both domestically and internationally. Hindustan is another word for the nation and is often used in literature and other forms of popular culture.
I don’t know a ton about this, but it does seem like another “fuck you, Muslims” thing from the right wing.
Bharat is an ancient Sanskrit word that many historians believe dates back to early Hindu texts. The word is also used as a Hindi option for India. -
