Bonus Cat’s echocardiogram has found that his left atrium has enlarged, but his left ventricle has gotten better at pumping blood out. So, he’s maintaining his level, at least!

Also, the vet said he’s about as active as any fifteen-year-old cat, heart condition or no.

I had a problem in which I was getting behind on posting pictures, mostly on the guy’s site. Since every picture I take is auto-uploaded to Flickr, I thought I’d make an import-from-flickr feature in note-sender.

But Flickr’s API is not maintained, AFAIK, and so is rough going. I found a Python script that can download sets from Flickr, so I made a set for each recent month and pointed it at those. But that script depends on the Flickr API and thus fails all the time.

It was then, that I realized that Flickr has supported downloading sets as zip files for a really long time, maybe from the beginning. So, I just downloaded those, then loaded the photos into note-sender.

I guess the lesson here is once again that I should look harder before I start to code.

I somehow have not given much thought to LLMs and Stable Diffusion, et al in the mix in 2024 elections. Like everyone else, I used to think a lot about deepfakes in “future elections”, but I suppose I didn’t think of 2024 as a “future election.”

For the sake of the guy, I have to not be this fearful defeated guy. And yet, I’ve got to be aware of real perils on the horizon, of which there are a lot.

I spent an hour trying to remember how OAuth worked so I could use Flickr's old-ass API. It turns out that it has the old-ass lack of support for CORS, so I can't just use it via a browser app. I'd have to make a proxy. I think this is all I want to do on this tonight.

I walked by an open house and walked in because why not it’s open!

It was kind of a collection of tiny rooms connected by steep staircases. It looked like it was in good shape, but it had an awkwardness similar to what our house has.

This made me feel a little better about our house’s shortcomings, but also that house is $1.1 million, which freaks me out about how we may be out of luck re: the moving option if we conclude Medford High School is not going to work for us.

In fact, if you look around Luminary's website, it's hard to find any shows that have updated recently. That's a tough sell for a service with a monthly subscription fee. [...] Luminary shows will continue to start and stop publishing throughout the year, Malhotra said, being produced in seasons more like a TV show".
Dave Chappelle invests in this company. And I’m guessing he’s roped Talib Kweli into exclusively releasing albums through Luminary.

This looks like a classic “people don’t want this as nearly as much as the company wants to believe” situation, which is fine on one level in that businesses fail all the time.

On another, $100 million went into this! You gotta know it’s not going to work out as a business. You could have just bought 100 houses for people that can’t afford them.

Maybe the investors are fans of these minor celebrities, and this is an elaborate version of Martin Shrkeli buying that one Wu-Tang album.

Fortunately, dishwasher glass explosion mitigation was able to be done during extended birthday video game time. We’ve had multiple disasters this week, but I guess we were able to handle them. Still going to resent that they’ve wasted our time and energy, though!

Yup. A bunch of broken glass did in fact get under the filter.

In Pikmin 4, this would have been sparklium, and a bunch of Pikmin would have gone and picked it out for us.

Some glass exploded in our dishwasher. To clean under the filter this entire flat tube and everything connected to it has to be removed. It’s nice to be able to confirm that on the internet, at least.
