I saw someone actually using Find My Friends, and I guess her friends (knowingly?) use it, too, because she was watching at least seven of them move on a map. Why would you do this? It’s like the people who are like, sure, Venmo, announce my transactions to the public!

I brought this back from my parents’ basement: The Boss HM-3, dubbed “Hyper Metal.” It disappointed me in the ‘90s, and it disappointed everyone else, who thought it fell far short of its predecessor, the legendary HM-2, called the Metal Zone. It was what made bands sound like Entombed, Entombed included

There’s a use for everything, though, so I thought why not. It’s not as bad as I remember. It lacks attack definition so, it’s not better for me than the Microcube’s built-in rectifier simulator. It does create a fibrous sound, though. It’s also sort of muddy and band-limited. It was the style at the time. Think about Pantera, with the extreme gating and compression and a lot shaved off, EQ-wise. Intense, but also kinda fake-sounding. Though who’s to say what sounds fake now?

Anyway, here’s the same riffs with the pedal off and on. Apologies for the sloppiness.

An old man came out of a stall grinning. There were no other open stalls, so I went in, then came out because the seat was soaked in pee.

Was than grin because he knew someone would have to see his pee? Or because he had no idea he did that or no idea anything was wrong with it and was thinking about other stuff?

In further letting things go developments, I think if I had a NES and SNES games other than Castlevania 2, I found have found them in the basement by now. I think one of two things happened: Either my parents gave them to my cousin (giving things to relatives is the exception to the "keep everything" rule) who then sold them on eBay, as he does with all things or I foolishly took them to Gamestop for credit toward some Gamecube game or Max Payne or something stupid like that.

RIP, classic console games. It's a shame because music played by the NES just sounds way more bangin' than it does by emulator, in addition to the games feeling better.

There is a benefit to my parents keeping seemingly everything. I found a bunch of paystubs from my first post-college job, and they don't have any 401K contributions listed.

They're from 1999-2001, though, and I worked there for an additional four years. I'm guessing I didn't opt to contribute to a 401K then, either, which of course was a bad move, but I think this is enough to put to rest the mystery of "what happened to the 401K from my first job?" I had 401K from a job that I had for less than a year, and the company that administered that tried pretty hard to mail stuff to me, even after I had changed addresses, so I think that even if I had a forgotten one, someone would have tried to get in touch with me.

RIP, possible small amount of additional retirement funds.

My parents have a squirrel living in their roof. You can hear it clonking once in a while. Apparently, it got in by chewing this vent open, which is plastic. (I didn’t know they made plastic vents.)

I have to hand it that guy. Clinging to that upside down while chewing is some Physical: 100 type business.
