I spent over an hour scrubbing through this city council meeting video (after trying to piece things together from terse meeting minutes, trying to find out if they discussed using emergency cash to prevent school firings until the Prop 2.5 override (which will allow property taxes to be raised more than 2.5%) passes in the fall. I never found out; it seems like no?Comments
That video web page provides no transcript, even though there are captions, possibly baked into the mp4. Maybe I'll try to pry it out tomorrow.
I'm really trying to be a basic informed citizen here, but it's really inefficient. This really is asking a lot of people who aren't retired.
That said, I did like what I heard so far from all of the city councilors (except the Old Medford guy, Scarpelli, who just complained about "waste" even though Medford has an incredibly lean budget compared to other cities its size) and the mayor. In Cambridge, they basically all suck, except maybe Azeem. One upside of not having a strong commercial sector is that business interests haven't dug in as hard. -

If you’re having trouble finding a pharmacy that will refill your Adderall prescription because of ongoing shortages of the drug in the United States, you can pay a company called Insito Health $50 to outsource the frustrating, time consuming task of calling all the pharmacies in your area to a freelance worker in the Philippines or another country where labor is cheaper.
Also:The US is the only major advanced economy that does not have universal health coverage. Provision is private, and paid via insurance. It is generally expensive too. Per capita spending on prescribed medicines is around double that in other developed economies.
In fact, that “strong” American consumer — and service sector — you are hearing about is largely coming from spending on healthcare services. -

I started an Opties blog to keep track of how my computer opties (options for things to do on the computer) are going. I try to choose an optie before sitting at the computer and then do that. Of course, I’ll inevitably do other stuff because the computer is the most dangerous multifunction device known to humanity, but I hope to at least make some progress on the optie in each session.Comments

We did a recorder and acoustic guitar rendition of one riff from Iron Man and one riff from the Entertainer. We’re Deep Cuts, Inc. over here.Comments

I used to assume that any marination had to last at least an hour, but there’s a bunch of recipes on Kenji’s The Wok book that marinate for fifteen minutes. So, I tried marinating some bulgogi fifteen minutes before putting it on the grill, and it was fine!Comments

It turns out to be way easier for me to write a letter to the mayor on the e-ink tablet while recumbing than it is sitting at a computer.Comments

Junior calisthenics, n-minute run. The guy fell and scraped his knees at some point (not long after he pointed out the tree root hazard, actually), then we walked the most of the way from there.Comments
I did one pull-up. Things sometimes (but not always!) feel kind of loose in the trapezius zone still.
In conclusion: Well, I tried. -
The Time of Super Good Breezes continues! I’ll try to recall this when the end times are here.Comments
