I tried to fix two issues with my aged car stereo.
1) The radio and aux mode buttons broke because they’re made from thin plastic. Turns out they each just push another actual button underneath on the PC board. So, I removed them and widened the holes they were in so the actual buttons can be pressed directly.
2) It’s hard to get sound to both speakers via the aux port unless the 1/8” cable is in a particular position. I looked in the port, and I guess it’s just slightly too wide. I tried cutting off the ring in front of it so that the plug could go deeper, but that turned out to not matter. So, I glued a shim next to it the push the plug to the left. I hope that helps.
