I finished all my comparing and digging up and signed up for new health insurance. It's not great!Comments
Once again, I wish we had somehow established ourselves in Canada before we had a kid. Well, what are going to do? Scrub your personal beliefs and get forced into being a corporate software engineer, I guess. -
I’m mildly concerned I did too much yelling at the judo tournament, but it’s hard to raise the banner for your fighter without raising it too obnoxiously high, so to speak.Comments

We had the guy’s big playlist on, and Today’s Results came on just as we pulled into our driveway. That is exactly how we felt!Comments

I put a few new areas into my D&D hex map. As for why they're there and how they connect to anything, I've penciled in "a wizard" for now.Comments

Junior calisthenics, tried to run, but my right side IT band still felt messed up from the extended time spent in non-ergonomic chairs Wednesday, so I backed off and went for a walk. Three pull-ups.Comments

Ultra-spicy One Chip Challenge chip contributed to teen’s death, report saysComments
"It is possible that with significant stimulation of the heart, the muscle beyond the bridge suddenly had abnormal blood flow (‘ischemia’) and could have been a cause of a severe arrhythmia,” Udelson told the AP in an email. "There have been reports of acute toxicity with capsaicin causing ischemia of the heart muscle."

Roland the Farter (known in contemporary records as Roland le Fartere, Roulandus le Fartere, Rollandus le Pettus or Roland le Petour) was a medieval flatulist who lived in twelfth-century England. He was given Hemingstone manor in Suffolk and 30 acres (12 hectares) of land in return for his services as a jester for King Henry II. Each year he was obliged to perform "Unum saltum et siffletum et unum bumbulum" (one jump and whistle and one fart) for the king's court at Christmas.[1][2]

Junior calisthenics, helped the guy drill kesa gatame and escape thereof, took throws (osotogari, seoinage, sasae tsurikomi ashi, tai otoshi; just occurred to me we forgot tani otoshi), randori in which I played the part of the guy who tries nothing but osoto and seoinage. (Most of those throws aren’t quite ready for the tournament, but his following up is looking good.)Comments
I was able to do eight pull-ups. I think the trapezius is finally back to normal after who knows how long!
I think it’d be good for me to do some morning judo or jiujitsu. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is less interesting to me than judo, but it’s definitely lower impact. Also, all of those gyms are for-profit, unlike most judo dojos, so they actually have morning hours.
Also because of their for-profit nature, though, they’re all like $200 a month. That approaches the price of a Smidgeo subscription. - Comments

I called the Massachusetts Health Connector (the health insurance exchange) and asked if we could get three different plans for each of us (because that would be cheaper overall, especially if Katt and I get bare minimum stuff), and they said no. We have to get a family plan.Comments
I guess it's not the worst of all the problems in the world, but it is dumb. -

After coming back to Lee Won Hee highlights a bunch of times, I came across this analysis. I don’t know if the analysis is entirely correct, but the freeze frames are useful in getting a sense of what’s happening in his one-armed tai otoshi.Comments
I totally did not get that in these cases that the opponent is accidentally helping by not letting go of Lee’s sleeve. So not only is he throwing without having a lapel grip, he’s only got one of his hands on the opponent. I already though this was something of an amazing hack, but this is even weirder/niftier. -
Eric on a tiny TV that is simple and well-made and thus is shocking in the current technology landscape.Comments

There's a week left of the game jam I'm (casually) in. Tonight, I was hoping to implement individuals being contained in other things, but all I did was refactor to get ready for that change. If I were to get more into it, I could end up staying up really late, derailing a busy week right at the start.Comments
