Well, I signed up for a two-day class about installing windows. On one hand, I hate doing home improvement. I haven't even put wall liner on a wall whose fake wood paneling I ripped down months ago.Comments
On the other, we have a few windows that really suck. We talked to contractors, and it'd cost $1200 per window (window + installation). And they will not show up just to do two windows. So, for $500, maybe I'll at least get to know why it's $1200 a window. -
Far right parties are surging in Europe. The AfD in Germany is polling at 30%, and they recently defended the SS. Marine Le Pen might actually win in France.Comments
They have three-party systems, but it looks like it’s easy for disaffected voters who just want to shake things up to view multiple parties as establishment parties and vote for the crazy bomb chucking party. It’s very disappointing to see how hard this is.
Parties become the establishment by working with each other; that’s how they enact policy. But I guess you trade rebel points when you do that. You can try to mitigate the risk of your side being seen as establishment by always having subgroups around that don’t cooperate with you. But then you don’t have their votes, and you don’t get things passed.
At this point, we are just so, so far away for simply saying what you plan to do and having people evaluate whether they believe you will and can do that. - Comments

This is way more useful than I thought it would be. Almost every time I send an invoice, I can just select some numbers, hit ctrl+a, then save.

Arrokoth became the farthest and most primitive object in the Solar System visited by a spacecraft when the NASA space probe New Horizons conducted a flyby on 1 January 2019.[17][18][19]
It is indeed really primitive looking! Like a thing you'd find on the art table at a daycare. -

I ran into the old guy who plays his guitar on High St. while walking his smell dog. In the interest of being nice to guy that’s putting himself out there, I said nice guitar or something like that.Comments
He started talking, and then started playing a song. He did a good job, but I only needed one. Every time he finished one, he asked me a question so that I had to answer that question, then immediately like “here’s another of my go-tos”.
It was four songs until a group of people needed to pass us on the sidewalk, and I had the chance to say, “Nice playing; I gotta go!”
The guy is really nice and entirely unmanipulative, but I was reminded of the general idea in which you attack in order of force your opponent to respond instead doing what they actually planned to do. -
People are always saying you should show up at school committee and city council meetings. I went to a school committee meeting tonight, and I did get a lot of information, much of it “vibes info”, but I struggle with deciding it’s an efficient use to time.Comments
I didn’t get there at the beginning, and I was still there for two hours. There were still 20-30 people in front of me in the public comment line. It could literally be an hour and a half wait to actually speak.
That said, I did learn that the budget cuts would include the music director who does an amazing job with the bands at every level, elementary through high school. Before I heard that, I thought, well, someone’s gotta get cut unless city council gets more money for the school budget. There’s gotta be a better choice than firing the director that got these award-winning bands and orchestra going.
I also learned that there’s quite a few civic-minded kids there. - Comments
