Far right parties are surging in Europe. The AfD in Germany is polling at 30%, and they recently defended the SS. Marine Le Pen might actually win in France.
They have three-party systems, but it looks like it’s easy for disaffected voters who just want to shake things up to view multiple parties as establishment parties and vote for the crazy bomb chucking party. It’s very disappointing to see how hard this is.
Parties become the establishment by working with each other; that’s how they enact policy. But I guess you trade rebel points when you do that. You can try to mitigate the risk of your side being seen as establishment by always having subgroups around that don’t cooperate with you. But then you don’t have their votes, and you don’t get things passed.
At this point, we are just so, so far away for simply saying what you plan to do and having people evaluate whether they believe you will and can do that.
