Scientists said that this year was on track to become the warmest on record as the global surface air temperatures breached the threshold of 1.5C for each of the past 12 months and seas had reached their warmest for 15 months in a row.Comments
There was a really great quotefrom the commerce secretary, Gina Raimondo, a couple years ago, when she was referring to some of the heat waves that year, and she said something like, “This [hot] summer is [going] to be one of the coolest ... of the rest of our lives.”

I don’t know why, but the dental clinic comic in the latest Woshibai strip is extremely funny to me.Comments

Hi,

My name is Mike, and I am an app designer along with an App Developer working with an “Indian based Company” with over 7+ years of experience.
Whether you need adjustments to an existing mobile app or need a website / web app built from scratch, I and my team are here to help.
If you are interested in exploring mobile app development services, please let me know. I would be happy to discuss your project requirements and how we can assist you.

Whoa, it was actually 110 minutes of driving today. Still mad about that! However, I have at least moved over to the library which has humane chairs.Comments

Heh, the iced coffee they sell here tastes like chalk. Maybe some technology has been done to it.Comments

Due to us forgetting the guy's backpack, we drove to MIT, then had to drive home, then drove back again. After which, I just decided to work from Kendall so I wouldn't have to drive home, then drive back again. It was eighty minutes of driving.Comments
Driving the exact route the second time is the most disheartening part. I'd be a terrible cab driver. - Comments

Now Jeanette Epps is asking someone where to find a part with some serial number. I guess they do a lot of assembly on the ISS.Comments

They found a cap. It was in the mesh bag, not in the ziplock bag. Space!Comments
Oh, re: the HDEV showing space: It was never flipped around. It's always pointed at Earth, but sometimes it's on the dark side of Earth and it picks up city lights, which looked like stars to me. -
They're now going to scavenge a new cap instead of hunting down the floating one. Space life!Comments

More HDEV talk: They actually talk on the stream sometimes! Some astronauts were just talking about how they saw a loose cap floating around.Comments

AOC endorses Biden. I’ve been leaning toward, “Well, who can tell if replacing Biden will actually help. Probably not, but might as well try it.” AOC is pretty realistic, though, and does know more than me about what the odds are. So, that gives me pause. Though, honestly, I was already quite well paused. Additionally, it really doesn’t matter what I think about this. I really should be thinking about where the SCOTUS ruling will put us in ten years.Comments

Antihistamine drugs effectively prevent viral infection by competitively binding to HRH1, thereby disrupting the interaction between the spike protein and its receptor. Multiple inhibition assays revealed that antihistamine drugs broadly inhibited the infection of various SARS-CoV-2 mutants with an average IC50 of 2.4 µM."

Early photographers sold their snapshots to advertisers, who reused the individuals’ likenesses without their permissionComments
A teenage girl named Abigail Roberson noticed her face on a neighbor’s bag of flour, only to learn that the Franklin Mills Flour Company had used her likeness in an ad that had been plastered 25,000 times all over her hometown.
After suffering intense shock and being temporarily bedridden, she sued. In 1902, the New York Court of Appeals rejected her claims and held that the right to privacy did not exist in common law. It based its decision in part on the assertion that the image was not libelous; Chief Justice Alton B. Parker wrote that the photo was “a very good one” that others might even regard as a “compliment to their beauty.” -
Whoa, there's a livestream of the earth fed by a camera mounted to the International Space Station.Comments
