We tried paddle boarding. It turned out to mostly be standing on a pond, which was chill. The point of it is that you are on the water.
A lot of human recreation is just “be in this thing,” where the thing may be a pond, a forest, or a sand beach. For the very rich, there is also space. There are artificial things to be in like ball pits, saunas,
foam parties, and isolation tanks.
I feel like the variables in “environmental” recreation are:
- Temperature
- Medium
- Near or in medium
- Mode of motion
- Elevation
- Lighting
So, a form of recreation could be going into a warm chamber filled with nonstick jelly that you roll around on and bounce up and down on as you go. It’s underground a lit by a glow emanating from the jelly. $20, sign a waiver, and you’re in!
