Oh, yeah, I should say I finally tried Dungeon Crawl Classics for the first time this weekend. It delivered!Comments
There was both a great feeling of high risk and of low risk as a result of having multiple fragile characters. A nobody getting hold of a magic ring is so much more exciting that the typical robust AD&D guy. -

I just walked into a bathroom in this medical building, and there was this incredibly wide unflushed stool in the toilet. As wide as a soup can. I hope this person is getting the help they need! -
Yoon was indicted for insurrection one month after his attempt. This is about the millionth sign that something is wrong with the American system.Comments

British currency prior to the 1970sComments
farthing – the smallest coinage = 1/4 penny
All of prices in Thank Goodness You’re Here are in bob (bob is the plural of bob). 1/20th of a pound is not as awkward as I thought. Guineas, which are mentioned throughout Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, are 21/20ths of a pound.
halfpenny (pronounced “hay-pinee”.) = 1/2 penny
penny – (in conjunction with other denominations is called “pence”.)
threepenny (thruh-pence) = three pennies
sixpence = six pennies
shilling 12 pence (1/20 pound sterling) in slang a “bob.”
two shillings = 24 pence (1/10 pound sterling)
two and six. — two shillings plus sixpence = 30 pence
five shillings – 60 pence (called a Crown)
one pound = 240 pence = 20 shillings (called a “sovereign”; a slang expression was “quid) = £
guinea = 1 pound plus one shilling -
Some things I did today:Comments
- Fixed the coffee maker
- Emailed a friend
- Ordered a book for a guy
- Researched RTL-SDR, ordered a dongle
- Installed my outside camera
- Client work
- Worked on Flooding, fixed chords bleeding outside of the datum they represent
- Got Wildermyth, tried it a bit
- Got paranoid about my patched tire, went to the gas station to use the gauge there (it was fine)
- Took some throws from the guy
I don't recommend doing this amount of stuff. I'm now wiped. I wish I had done a third of this and worked out some. -
Back workout, 2x8 deadlifts.Comments

I had to vacate the basement for the last week and a half or so because it's not worth paying the electricity to heat the basement in single-digit weather. So, I've been typing directly on the laptop keyboard (with a wrist brace), often on the couch.Comments
My back is fine (though I do use supportive pillows), and I thought my hands were holding up well. My wrists finally starting hurting today, so I hauled the desk and ergonomic split keyboard up to my bedroom, rather than wait for any escalation.
Still, that run was a lot more than I could have expected from my wrists a few years ago! - Comments

One of the problems with having an outwardly racist and misogynist leader is that it emboldens other bigots that would have otherwise stayed inactive. The Charlottesville rally in 2017 in which the right wing shot at people and killed someone with a car is an example of this, and so the KKK putting up threatening flyers in Nashville is unsurprising.Comments
I am surprised however, by the person running NASA who apparently is all in on this.NASA's acting administrator is moving swiftly to remove diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility—or DEIA—programs from the space agency.
She doesn't want anyone to even try to hire someone that's not White, and she wants people to snitch on those that do. What a shit of a person.
...
In explaining NASA's position, Petro said of the agency's existing DEIA activities, "These programs divided Americans by race, wasted taxpayer dollars, and resulted in shameful discrimination."
Petro's email is notable for its suggestion that some civil servants at NASA may have sought to shroud DEIA programs from the Trump administration since the presidential election in early November.
"We are aware of efforts by some in government to disguise these programs by using coded or imprecise language," she wrote. "If you are aware of a change in any contract description or personnel position description since November 5, 2024 to obscure the connection between the contract and DEIA or similar ideologies, please report all facts and circumstances."
Petro's message includes an email address to report such activities and asks NASA employees to do so within 10 days.
"There will be no adverse consequences for timely reporting this information," Petro wrote. "However, failure to report this information within 10 days may result in adverse consequences." -

Mike Madigan’s case caps a decade-long probe into official malfeasance in a city notorious for itComments
The trial, now in its third month and heading towards closing arguments, is the culmination of a sprawling, decade-long corruption investigation that has netted several convictions, including the chief executive of a public utility and a longtime member of Chicago’s city council.
I had a civics teacher in high school that was vocally right wing. He loved Nixon and Reagan. But he was from a Chicago Democratic machine background, so he would also express admiration for Richard J. Daley and Mike Madigan. He'd talk about how Mike Madigan would cut off congresspeople's mic in the Illinois house like that was cool.
I imagine he is pro-Trump because most formerly moderate Republicans have adopted him and because he just loves big shows of power. -
Out of nowhere, in the middle of this episode of Asian Not Asian, a podcast mostly about comedy and not at all about music, suddenly started talking about how Spotify Wrapped sucked this year. Wow. I guess it's really, really noticeable.Comments

All right, I did four rounds of randori tonight, semi-consecutively. Meaning the first two were actually consecutive, but on the last two, both my opponent and me just huffed and puffed while hunched over before actually starting.Comments
That's good for my endurance! Technique-wise, things were bad. Again, my only successful throws were kouchi makikomi, osotogari, and tani otoshi. No forward throws!
I did throw a brown belt twice. I mean, he threw me like ten times, but I still feel good about this, and I'm going to allow it.
I really, really have to try to focus on footwork, even if it feels like I'm not getting anywhere right away. We worked on ashi guruma, and it is almost impossible if you're standing in the wrong place and kind of easy if you are in the right place. As chaotic as randori is, I really need to at least make the effort to be in the right place instead of always just going for it from wherever I'm at. - Comments
