The less outlandish parallel lie going around is that South Asians are taking their jobs. When I was a kid, a neighbor commented on how the new Subway (the Subway franchise was new to us at that time) was owned by Indians. Her husband, who was an idiot (this was obvious even to a ten-year-old), aid that the government gives it to them.
My mom couldn't believe he said that. She replied that immigrants save their money for a long time to open franchises. Dude just mumbled something.
If that had taken place in 2024, our dumb neighbor would have just posted that the government was giving Subways to Indians to TikTok or X, and it would be retweeted thousands of times, with maybe a dozen "that's not true" replies that would be surfaced to very few people.
