I spent a bunch of time this weekend making sure that selecting, copying, and pasting text worked the way I want on my new-ish computer with my special keyboard, and it was totes worth it. Having my muscle memory rebuffed every time I hit [the key pictured here]+A or [key]+C or [key]+V was really distracting. Now, typing is like smooth, unconstipated pooping after having been constipated.
That key is mapped to Cmd when I work on a Mac, it is Ctrl here. In the end, I did not decide to remap Ctrl and Alt and Super via the OS (
which I upgraded in order to do so easily), but rather to just do it via the configuration on keyboard itself since if I'm using a laptop's built-in keyboard. So, upgrading was a highly unnecessary risk, but I was lucky that it worked out and that I like the changes (and potential to do really detailed keyboard remapping in the future). I'll take it!
