We saw The Rocky Mountain Express today, a documentary about the building of the the Canadian Pacific Railway. At some point, they built in a mountain pass, ignoring warnings. They had to build really high trestles to spare trains a suicidal grade, The trestles collapsed and had to be rebuilt.
At home, the guy quietly built this railroad track. He calls it a "trestle bridge." It also collapsed, and it was also upsetting. He did rebuild it, though, much like the Canadian Pacific Railway did before him, and he did it without cheating any immigrants, to boot.
