Due to real estate complexities, we live next to the train tracks, which we’ve mostly gotten used to. But sometimes when there’s maintenance, the trains honk at the workers as they are required to do by law. We are not used to that and did not anticipate this.
Recently, fiber optic cable and railroad ties have been hauled up to the tracks. I tried calling Keolis (which the MBTA contracts out to do basically all maintenance and operation of the transit system) to find out what’s going to happen. I also emailed customer service. They said construction would happen from April to May, but without specifics.
Just now, I saw some construction guys, so I went out and asked them. They were much more forthcoming.
Fiber optic installation is going to happen in April and May. Working will be during 9-5 hours, more in the morning. Railroad tie replacement is going to happen much later than that, in the summer.
During both of these projects, so trains will run and will be honking at workers. That suuuuucks. But only one track will be open during the tie thing, so frequency will at least be reduced.
The best response I could come up with is to make this cube of sandwich. I guess I’ll try to think of other things after I see if this response does anything.
