Copying this off-the-cuff Slack explanation of an idea I've had for a while here:
So, this is a thing I thought should exist, that were the government actually up for creating new services, it should do. But since it doesn't exist, it'd be great if something close existed in the commercial space:
1) The service provides storage for each user.
2) Each user can look at what's stored for them and can delete anything at anytime.
3) Each user can grant access to apps to portions of their storage. And also revoke.
4) Apps can, if granted access, store user data without worrying about, well, having to store user data.
This would help users gain control over their data and be confident about using apps that use this kind of storage.
And this would free apps (well, of a certain kind) from worrying about managing user data.
If this actually exists somewhere, please let me know!
