I wonder, though, if something like this is is what's needed to get people initially into a mindset for listening to an ambient piece. A lot of people will turn away from an ambient piece immediately because it registers as "not music" or "boring". If they get something to occupy themselves for a few minutes, it could give a slow-change piece a chance to connect.
