I haven’t had a medical checkup in a few years, so I thought I’d get one since my insurance covers all preventative visits. The medical office said I’d need to do a patient intake interview to get a primary care physician. Sure.
In that phone call, I answered questions about my medical history, and I mentioned carpal tunnel syndrome. The physician’s assistant mentioned something about an ergonomic assessment, so to be polite, I said OK, that sounds like a good idea. (I have had one of those.)
Later, I found out that because of that, the “visit” was not marked as preventative since that counted as “counseling”. Thus, it was a $130 phone call.
I’m going to look wistfully toward Canada now.
