I was talking to some old school friends today, and we drifted into talking about strengthening voting in light of the multiple forms of voter suppression that are happening and will happen. Any sort of law or action that needs to be funded by the federal government won't happen while Trump is president.
However, it occurred to us that many states do have early voting. Except for New Hampshire and Pennsylvania,
every swing state has either early voting or is an all-mail-in state. Election day is hard for many people that cannot get out of work to make. However, election weeks or election months are much easier to get to.
Election Month should be the normalized standard. We should be getting out the idea that the early voting period is the
normal time to vote. Election Day should be thought of as "Last-Minute Voting Day".
How we make this happen, I don't know. Any ideas? Email deathmtn@fastmail.com!
