Poland and Brazil offer lessons for rebuilding in the wake of illiberal leaders. It is interesting to know how recovery is going (and not going) in Poland and Brazil, but I think we're "ahead" of them on the timeline in that we had an anti-democratic president, voted him out, and then he came back again. In Poland, they just got to the authoritarian returning to power, and in Brazil they're not there yet (and hopefully won't be). So, while the problems in the article will be the same in the US (assuming there's not a third Trump term, which we can't actually sanely assume, but we'll put that aside for now), those countries don't quite work as a model.
