Strange things are afoot in Germany. (As they seem to be in most places.
Once cast as a leftist demagogue, she and her party, the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW), are now seen as potential saviours of east German democracy and the only way to halt the AfD’s rise.
AfD is the pro-Nazi party.
The Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance also sounds right wing, though?
Apart from its well-known opposition to immigration and sympathy for Russia, little is known about what her party really stands for.
This reminds of me Democrats’ “coalition” with Kyrsten Sinema. They thought they had a majority with her and Manchin, but they really didn’t in important situations.
On another note, it’s pretty funny that the party is called the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance. Not even Trump has the party named after him. Seems like it’d be awkward to be in a party named after a specific person actually in that party.
