Miraculously, I finally got the metronome I got from Goodwill to work. It came with the escapement out of place, and I could not assemble it so that it would stay after closing the case.

So, I sawed a gap into the case near the winder so that I could assemble the internal parts outside, then just push it into the case without having to angle the escapement (and thereby mess it up).
