My friend Hugh posted some Spotify layoff-related stuff that made me go look at LinkedIn, and I found out that the general vibe among people that worked there, though, is like some kind of natural disaster happened. Like, oh an earthquake happened, it's so sad! What actually happened was that rich guys who run a corporation used them up and then fired them.
I don't get this loyalty and "we changed the world" talk at all. Changed the world? You have Joe Rogan $200 million and took more dimes away from actual musicians. Some of them did fight to get smaller artists into playlists, but in the end, that just adds up to a little exposure, which is no counterbalance for the rest of it.
I guess I really am way way out of the work culture mainstream now.
