Judo was good tonight in that I feel a good sense of well-being after having worked out but also bad in that I realized how much trouble I'm going to be in this weekend's tournament.
We did some more intense randori, and I had a hard time moving larger opponents, and most likely, larger opponents are what I'm going to get. Left side osotogari is the only throw that worked.
I'm going to have to remember to take big steps backward if I can't move them, and I'm going to have to give up on sode tsurikomi goshi, as cool as it is, because I can't move anyone's sleeve up if they're stronger than me. Also, my kouchi gari is getting better, but still not really doing anything, so I have to drop it.
So, I have to fall back to old school kouchi makikomi, if I can get close, and seoinage, 2009-style. Should I break someone's posture, maybe I'll try harai goshi; I've got to be real completely drop uchimata attempts.
My conditioning is better than it was, but four minutes is still going to really be tough. Nothing I can do about that now.
Well, mostly I'm just going to show up, and at worst, I can at least boost someone else's combat esteem.
