I really don't want to, but I think we have to seriously and as quantitatively (as I can, which is not very in the case of this question) what
impact a Trump re-election will have on us.
My grandfather had his family flee two countries (North Korea and later South Korea) when he thought shit was going to get terrible. One time he called it correctly and once incorrectly, though, not horribly so.
I think he had many of the same considerations we do. He had five kids at the time he left North Korea, established with friends and school. Though back then, I think people didn't worry too much about kids' social development. Still, it was the only place the family had known.
Actually, now that I think about it, he had much stronger signals than I did, like his boss strongly hinting that the government was going to kill him. So, actually, I guess it's not apples-to-apples.
And to make things, even muddier, when he made everyone leave South Korea, in the '70s, there were strong indications that war would break out again and that the President Park's dictatorship wouldn't end. And his family was even more established. My dad was 100% not interested in relocating to America and struggling to order food at fast food places and stuff like that.
