Today in Catan Jr., the guy went for a lot of parrot cards (known as development cards in Catan Sr.). I view this as risky, but I realized it’s actually not nearly as risky as in grown-up Settlers. Instead of taking a resource at random from an opponent when you get a solider card and move the robber, in this game, when you get a “move Captain Spooky” (by far the most common parrot card), you take two of whatever the target hex normally produces. That may actually be more productive at some points in the game than building lairs.
