Israel attacked the World Health Organization’s premises in Gaza three times on Monday, the UN agency said, warning that Israel’s expanding war with Hamas was pushing the Palestinian enclave’s health system further towards collapse.

It added that the main warehouse had been damaged after one of the attacks caused explosions and a fire inside, which it said was “part of a pattern of systematic destruction of health facilities”.

Many of those killed in recent weeks have been trying to reach aid distribution hubs run by a private company as part of a controversial new scheme backed by Israel and the US that was introduced to replace the UN as the main conduit for aid to the enclave.
