I was looking at a programming summer camp for kids that, in the second half of the week-long camp, has them all working in Python. This is a camp for ages 6-10.
Based on the way most six-year-olds type and read, I have serious doubts that they'll be able to do much more than copy code in a general purpose programming language like that, if they don't get bored and wander away.
I wonder if kids go to this, then come home and their parents ask "Did you learn to code" and they just say "Yes" and then they say it was fun because they got screen time and no one thinks any more about it.
