We went to the pool, and the water was cool. I found that reassuring because last week, when we went to the pool in South Carolina, the water was warm.
The air temperature was about the same as is now here in Massachusetts — a bit over 90°F. The
overnight lows were in the 70s. (This isn’t attributable to climate change; that’s the average for this time of year in Columbia.) However, they’re
about the same here this week.
Our water source, the Quabbin Reservoir has a water temperature of
70°F today. Columbia has
two water sources.
Broad River is
has a water temperature of 86 °F today which seems to be a record, but only by two degrees, according to that page. I’m guessing it was about the same last week.
Lake Murray was 29.6°C (85.46 °F) last week.So it seems that the water supply is just close to body temperature there all the time, despite me thinking it was a climate change thing.
That doesn’t explain to me why the tap water wasn’t warm. Explain this, some government web site!
